Small Group time is a very important aspect of the ABC Academy Program. At 10:30 each day the children are divided into "Small Groups" of about 8 children. For thirty minutes each day, the children participate in learning age appropriate activities. The children are afforded one-on-one time with the same teacher and are surrounded by children of similar age and/or ability.
Our youngest group will be focused on earlier development, such as general socialization, sharing, gross motor skills, verbal skills, feelings and emotions, etc.
This group will learn their colors, shapes, matching, tracing, and numbers 1-5. A variety of teaching methods are used to support the weekly tasks.
A slightly older group will be focused on numbers, shapes, colors, matching, same versus different, opposites, cutting, letters A, B, C, D and the five senses.
Our Pre-K groups will be focused on learning to recognize and write the upper and lower case letters A - Z, recognize and write numbers 1 - 30. We also work on fine motor skills, cutting, tracing and writing their names. At the end of Pre-k, children are prepared for Kindergarten and excel in their new school classrooms.
